Emily has always loved making people feel special inside and out, so pursuing a career in beauty therapy was the perfect mix of luxury and service. Whilst doing her industry work placement at leading Gold Coast Eyebrow and Eye Artistry Salon – Lemac, Emily’s charming, professional and hard working nature landed her a job as a receptionist. After completing her Dual Diploma Emily began her career as a Brow & Lash Artist at Lemac.
I have always loved making people feel special inside & out. I believe everyone in some stage of their life should feel truly happy in their own body. Pursuing this career I knew that I would be helping in some way to make that happen for them.
I loved the philosophy behind The French ~ It’s about accepting who you are as a person & loving you for who you are because being you is what makes you special to which you then radiate that energy onto your client leaving them with a better experience.
My favourite part about studying at The French was creating beautiful friendships with all the girls/ boys & being surrounded by people that have the same passion + enthusiasm as you for beauty.
Service Excellence played a big part in preparing me for life as a beauty therapist. It taught me to love & accept me for who I am & believe in myself.
I believe I am a better beauty therapist because I believe in myself.
Paige Morris ~ She always created an environment where everyone felt safe to be themselves & she understood everyone’s different levels of ability which I loved.
Never give up and always say yes because you never know where it might lead you to.
First impressions are everything ~ Personality, appearance & performance.
I applied at Lemac to do my 5 day work experience before graduation where I was offered a position as receptionist within the 5 days, after working there for 2 months I was then offered the position as a Brow & Lash Artist which I have now been in for 1 year, whilst in that year I also completed my certificate in Cosmetic Feather Touch Brow Tattooistry.
My skill of communication & listening ~ I listen to the clients’ wants and need to apply my recommendations in which service will suit them best. The client is coming to me for my professional recommendation, they will come back because I listened and then communicated which is the best service for them.
Personally, I was perceived as a well-educated graduate that understands all the elements of beauty because of the standard The French upholds. I also believe that being well-groomed and presenting your well with your knowledge contributes to a person’s perception of you.
I love all aspects of my job but especially working alongside some of the most amazing, talented girls. But one moment I will cherish forever was when my 4th tattoo client ever cried in the mirror with happiness as she couldn’t believe how beautiful she looked with her new tattooed brows & that truly warms my heart that I did that for her.
Everyday is different depending on the services you are performing that day but I usually see around 10-13 clients a day. I come into the salon 30mins early to set up, open the salon, clean and dust, turn on wax pots & candles, and play some music. When my first client arrives I then do around half of my clients for the day, have some lunch & do the content for the Lemac instagram for 30mins, I then do my second half of the clients for the day, once I am done I turn everything off and reset for another day.
It is always evolving, I get to experience trends first hand from my clients and there are so many paths to follow to further your skills and knowledge.
Do it, you will never know if you don’t try. It is such an amazing experience that you won’t get anywhere else. You create beautiful bonds with all your fellow beauty therapists, all the teachers are so knowledgeable and talented at what they do, and The French creates a real life experience for you to carry into your work when you have finished your Diploma. You have it all at your fingertips to become the best beauty therapist you can be.
To excel in my brow cosmetic tattooing and continue advancing my skills in basic brow and lash artistry. My ultimate career ambition would be to own my own business or to teach in the brow artistry area of things.
